I'm staying in a monastery tonight in Vallava, which has hosted pilgrims on the Camino for 1000 years. Fortunately the bathrooms are somewhat more modern!
Km vary depending on degree of exhaustion!!! Off mountains now and into hills. Body almost caught up! Meeting heaps of fascinating people but still plenty of time on my own.
We're sorry we missed the beginning of your pilgrimage - but have delightedly come upon your posts tonight. It's so lovely to see you underway, and to see the countryside and the buildings again. We're intrigued by where you've stayed so far - I think we had a coffee at Viscarret on our way through to Larrasoana (past Zubiri) on our day after Roncesvalles. And your monastery at Villava also looks wonderful. Are you going to stay in Pamplona, or will you just walk through it on your way tomorrow?
We'd love to know how you're finding things so far - are there many pilgrims on the road this early? How are the feet???? We hope you're just delighted so far, and now we know you're on your way, we'll be following you each day.
I'm loving your pics! How far are you averaging each day at the moment.. or has it been different kms each day?
