Rising above the plains

(I hesitate to say at last, as I skipped most of the meseta, but I think I've done my time on plains ie half my life!)

Tonight I'm staying in Santaiglesias, just as the Camino rises up from the plains through some hills with trees and shrubs. Tomorrow Astorga and then the highest point on the Camino the next day.

I passed over this very long bridge at Hospital de Orbigo. The river was this wide before a dam was built upstream, apparently. A jousting tournament was once held beside the bridge. Must have been pretty big for it to be remembered nearly a millennium later!
